China Southern have announced the commencement of direct flights from Perth to China beginning 8 November 2011. China Southern will fly 3 times a week to Perth. The Western Australian Minister of Tourism, Kim Hames hopes this will be the first step to increase the number of Chinese tourist to 100,000 a year by 2020. Last year 15,000 Chinese tourists visited Western Australia with the only direct flights available from Hong Kong.
